 Pioneer A/Pier Fishing

I found this site one night rummaging through old camp letters and googling camp horseshoe. Although I was only a camper from '76-'79 (three years including Forester), I still have pleasant memories of a city kid's first experience in the outdoors. My Pioneer A group was me, Steve Farber, Eric Ephraim, Maurie Samuels, Kirk Bregman (sp?), and David Geller.

I was the kid always fishing at the pier with the handmade wood bluegill catchers (pier fishers) during any freetime and always was picked to either clean or catch the fish for super relay. Dean Harris (sp?) caught a 5 lb largemouth bass off that bluegill/bullhead pier with only a pierfisher and bread.

I must have fished the horseshoe lake at least 50 times on the big horse which Geoff Mendel was always driving and Cass Fisher and I were ususally fishing. My "permanent license" was finally established during Forester year with a 15" smallmouth bass on a canoe trip trolling my shortened line which was all messed up from being in the trees on a floating Rapala Lure with Aaron Adilman and me paddling. Highlight of my life back then.

As I am writing this a see those familiar bumpy nodes of poison ivy devleloping on my index finger. Maybe I should go see Marilyn.
