To all my Horseshoe friends,

I was thinking of camp as I often do this morning as I am getting ready to head up to camp this week with my boys and close Horseshoe friends. This will be Jake's (7 yrs old) 3rd trip to Minong and Jonah's (4) maiden voyage. Of course we'll hit all the hot spots, a float down the Nam, A-Lake, Gould's, the Eye and Buck & Wing.

Camp has meant so much to all of us, and going back each summer brings back so many great memories. Just as importantly, it is creating many more! In a time of such disgust with things such as politics, corporate greed and the looming baseball strike, thoughts of Camp and the wholesome childhood/counselor memories put a warm smile on my face. It is sort of like going home. We all have people and places in our lives that give us comfort, and Camp has always been one of those places for me.

We should all work hard to keep those memories alive, and create new ones for ourselves and our children. I have tried hard to incorporate lessons from camp in my family life. My kids are both little grubbies, and while Jonah is a great little pier fishing dude, Jake is working hard on his master angler. They also like to contribute to CPF as they're always leaving their belongings in and outside the house.

Til' we go home again, with warmest memories,
Ski
