Speak of the Devil. See my previous (initial) post to this site. How the hell are you? Don't take this the wrong way, but I miss you. Just got back from visiting Dick Lib in L.A. He's doing great.

Hey K-Lib:

Great story about the Low Shoulders. Leave it to a Big Mo to come up with something like that. Come to think of it, I seem to remember that street sign being in my brother's closet back home in Wilmette for a couple years. You'll be glad to know the fuzz never caught him...at least not for that.

The Horseshoe web site makes me smile and cry. I sure wish the camp was still around. I always tell me wife camp stories. She loves it...even though she doesn't understand why a guy would go to an all-boys camp through age 16-17, and not be a counselor till 18-19.

I remember you always taking so much time with us at night doing "green sheets". (In fact, considering you had a cabin full of 12 year-olds, it's amazing you had the energy after a long day and night to walk along the lake shore). You would go to each person's bed and do the green sheet and talk about the day. No other counselor I had -- especially when I was young -- did that. It was more like, shout across the cabin and tell the counselor what you did. I always remembered that and when I was a Woodsman counselor in 1985, I used that same method. Of course, I took full credit for inventing it. K Lib who?!

By the way, I believe the archery counselor was Gary Meyers.

Where do you live? Glad to hear from you. I don't think you were a counselor after 1978, were you? Did we drive you away? That damn Scott Noskin, Jamie Cohen and Jon Sitcow -- they were the bad ones in our cabin!? They all couldn't be perfect little angels like me!

The Rock is off to make another movie. It'll be released next summer. Tell Caleb to keep watching, though -- it's my livelihood at stake.

As Ever,
Jordan

Unbelievable! Forester C. Bob Harris told me of this website a month ago, and I did not think I could handle it emotionally.

One night in the summer of 1978, after tucking you in,and discussing your activities of the day, I was walking along the beach from the area between cabin 14 and 13. From Forester C I would hear a loud fish jumping between where the sailboats were moored--Do you remember the should of the halliards pinging on the masts? This was a very dark night--no moon or stars. As I walked toward the fishing pier, I heard a voice call my name.

It was Bob Moss who was relaxing in the moored Dart (or Super Dart) with Kenny Simon. I walked down the beach to them, incredulous that I could be recognized in the dark. (I never carried a flashlight.) Moss swore he recognized my silhouette from my right shoulder being lower than the left. I never believed him, but for the remainder of the summer he would call out "low shoulder" when I was around.

On my birthday, August 2--same as Merc's, Bob and Gary ( I am blanking on his last name. A counselor from Milwaukee who taught archery and tripping. I think it started with a "K".) brought me an orange construction sign from work they were doing on Nancy Lake Road, A big diamond shaped "LOW SHOULDER ".

It was hysterical. However, when camp was over, I was driving to Washington State for my first year of law school, and I decided I didn't want to be caught with a sign that had a warning on the back "removal of this sign is a government offense subject to fine , imprisonment or both. I gave it to your brother Geoff.

By the way, I did catch that 31" northern pike from the sailing area later that summer, at night. Frankie came out to help me land it. Also, when I buy suits, the tailor has to make an alteration for my "low shoulder."

I am glad to hear from you. I am re-married, and of my 5 kids, (3 of mine, 2 of hers) our 12 year old , Caleb, is a big fan of The Rock, and I will make sure he sees your work, if he has not already.

Hey K-Lib: It's Jordan Mendal, your old camper from Forester C 1978 here. I hope this e-mail finds you doing well.

I still have some fond memories from that summer. Our cabin was the best athletically of the bunch -- despite me, of course. Through this Horseshoe web site, I was able to get in touch with another one of the cabinmates from that year: Kevin Wolfe, who works for Morgan Stanley in the San Francisco area.

I am a Senior TV Producer for World Wrestling Entertainment (the former WWF). I've been in TV production since graduating from college. I've had lots of different jobs, but this is the best and most fun. We're headquartered in Stamford, CT -- about 30 miles from NYC. I work on assortment of projects, mostly having to do with the out-of-ring exploits of our talent. For example, when The Rock shot his movie THE SCORPION KING last year, I went to the set to shoot behind the scenes footage and interviews, then turn the footage into features when the film was released this past April. I'm sure you were first in line to see the picture!

I'm married, no kids -- and none planned. I just don't think kids are in the plans for my wife and I. We do have a bunch of stuffed owls, if that counts.

I seem to remember at the end of camp that summer you were my counselor that other counselors got you a "Low Shoulders" street sign. Right? Being only 12 at the time, I don't think I ever noticed your shoulders were low!?

Feel free to write back to my work e-mail address (Jordan.Mendal@wwecorp.com). Would love to hear from you.

As Ever,
Jordan Mendal
