Hi to all:
And thanks to the person responsible for getting this going, it should have been done a long time ago! It's very exciting to see how many people have gotten to visit already.
I wish I could say that I bring everybody greetings from Adventure Lake, but due to a "City Life," trips up to A-Lake have been to few and far between, so hello from Chicago. I can report however that the Bass are biting, at least they were over the 4th of July weekend and apparently the Purple "Smell-Worm" was the way to go. I can also report that the wipperwill is still doing his thing in the evenings as I heard him when speaking with my father on the phone last Sunday night (yes, there is now a phone at Adventure Lake).
Things at A-Lake are much like they were when we were all at camp. With the exception of a small cabin located almost directly across the lake from the campsite, very little other than that has changed. In fact, recently we have spotted quite a bit of new wildlife activity; bears, badgers, foxes and wolves walking along the lake shore as well as a very healthy eagle populatiion. It's rare to make a trip up there now when you don't see an eagle, even in the winter.
I can also report that on a warm night last summer we heard the sounds of a drum coming from the woods across the lake. The moon was almost full and there was just enough light to make out the shape of what looked like an indian beating on a drum in the woods just beyond the old campsite. The next moring I went for a walk and what did I find but a arrow shot clear through a norway pine tree. Who knows maybe it had been there for a while. I left it where it was.
As I reviewed the messages people have posted, I was touched to see the fondness with which everybody speaks of camp. Hopefully this can be a wonderful place to re-connect and visit. I am delighted to be involved!
