 "New" Wilderness point

Hi all!

Attached is a picture (circa 1977 or 1979) of the "New" Wilderness Point. Does anyone know whether or not they were successful in re-stocking the lake? Or is it still nothing more than a leech pond?

From another point on the "Round River", regards to all,

Roy

HI Roy:

Last time I was at "The New Wilderness Point" it was with Bob & Myke Mercier we were duck hunting on a season opener about 10 years ago.

The lake never got past a leech farm but boy did the ducks like it and so did I as a 9 year old kid. Well I like it as an adult as well.

At any rate I know it is still totally un-developed as it is Washburn County Public Forest Land.

All the buildings are gone now but you can still visit the place. It's speacial to me because I learned how to pitch a tent, light a "one match fire" and tie a 1/2 hitch, among other things that will always stay with me. Ken Ogden and his wife Jan were at the helm when I was there along with "JJ" and "Peso" the dog.

Great picture!

Roy Boy
Don't know its present state, but I remember a delightful day off there with a Birch Trail lady. Leeches be damned!

I seem to remember going there with my cabin my guide year... just for an overnight trip... and there was a leech scene reminiscent of the one in "Stand by Me." Ouch!

Roy, would love it if you posted any pics you have on the MSN site... there is an easy new address to get to it:

Thanks!

Watch what you say, Rosey. Some of us married "delightful Birch Trail ladies" and some of us are still married to them after 33+ years!!!
