Frank D's contact information...AND..Please help me contact alumni in CA.

Technically this should be a response to Michael's entry but I don't want anybody to miss this because they don't choose to 'View Threads'.

Frank's contact information:

Frank Demyan
2233 Amirante Dr.
San Pedro, Ca. 90732
(310) 832-0438
sdemyan@yahoo.com

The email address goes to his daughter so be sure to identify that you are trying to communicate with Frank.

I second Mike's sentiments. The evening was so full of familiarity, warmth and good feelings. It is hard for me to describe. Frank looks great and has incredible recall of names and events - It was really a special evening.

Also, I need everybody's help. I'd like to coordinate a re-union for alumni in Southern California (or anybody that would like to travel to Southern California). Frank mentioned that he has a "treasure chest" of Camp memorabilia - pictures, t-shirts and such - and I think we could have a great time re-establishing friendships. So, please send me contact information of any alumni you know in the area.

Frank also mentioned that he has had problems sending holiday cards to Bill Engel - they have all been returned. So, if anybody knows Bill's address please forward it to Frank.

Hail to the Forest!!!!!!!!

Thanks for this contact info, Randy.

Pigpen--I'm sure you'll want to contact Frankie to discuss the secret GH meetings at which you were blackballed, thus preventing you from achieving any real success in life!! By the way, we may be down in SF again in July. If so, we'll get in touch beforehand and see if we can connect again this visit.

I actually just wrote Frankie a note to say hi and that I have survived his GH snubs. I have concluded that it wasn't that he thought me unworthy but that the sun had gotten to him through his chrome dome.

When I saw Wally's initial posting w/ his "resume" at the bottom I figured GH only bred insecurity so have developed an, "any club that would have me as a member..." attitude. Please do call and let me know when you'll be here. Since I am currently supporting the greater part of the legal community in the U.S. YOU can buy the meal this time! No Spam!

Best to Barbie,

PP

You know, I just remembered the "chrome dome" ID last night. I also recalled as a superstude (and as a stude because there was only one SS that year and we had a lot of studes, so some of us stayed in Frankie's cabin and others up on the junior side) being awakened early in the morning by Frank's "squawk-box" with this exchange: "Squire Man? Yeah, Gord..." Was Frankie Sancho Panza to Gordy's Don Quixote?

Will let you know our plans re coming to SF. Deacon

John,

What work resume would be complete without mentioning GH? One is advised to list awards, so GH is a good conversation grabber. Why shouldn't it be up there with BA, MBA, PhD, MD, etc?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Take care,

Wally

Thanks Jeff,

I'm thinking of scheduling the West Coast Re-union in July. There may be some people coming from San Francisco and Scottsdale so I want some time for people to make plans. Let me know what works for you.

I did contact Bill. He and Frankie have re-connected. I also forwared Bill the links to this site and the photo site. Given that Bill was such an enthusiastic camper and counselor I'm surprised that he hasn't contributed yet so........I think that everybody who remembers Bill Engel should email him (bill@engelwood.net) and encourage him to participate!!!!!!

Regards,

Hey Randy. I was a camper from 1977-1981. I currently reside in Los Angeles. If you are organizing any So-cal/Horseshoe events, please count me in!

Thanks,

Mark

New to the site thanks to the pestering older brother Keith to pay a visit. John P. have to tell you that the only awards I've seemed to have won were at good ol' Camp Horseshoe, not even a college degree. I am still hoping for an Oscar though......My best to you and your brother Dan.

Richie

We all knew then that your self esteem was at stake and so pushed for you ro get some awards. One of my fondest memories, well two of them are: 1. Every Sunday night at the counselor meeting Merc would open by saying, "Pritzker, Liberman, what're you going to do about your brothers?" You and Dan consumed most of the baker's product as he produced it but I think Merc was referring to the root cause.

2. When I took you guys on the Canadian I gave a stern lecture that there'd better not be ANY weed brought into Canada or I would personally bust the kid who did. Wen we got into Canada and I asked Danny what he'd brought he yelled at me for scaring the crap out of all of you and NO he didn't bring anything!

Hope all is well. Best to Keith.

JP,

Thanks for the great insight into my past and the enlightening memories. It was unfortunate that the internal storm that was brewing was not nipped in the bud so to speak. Have high hopes for high self-esteem at 44. Better late than never.

Replying to Randy, I'm up in Davis, CA, near Sacramento. I'm happy to make a trip to Southern Cal., if the event hasn't happened. I'm just checking out the site for the first time, now, and leisurely enjoying catching up on the thread.

As a general note to all, by coincidence, I got a book out of the library last week that has a bunch of essays in it, including one by E.B. White, written in 1941, which I read for the first time tonight. The essay is called "Once More to the Lake." He writes of returning to the place he'd spent the summers as a child, and of bringing along now his own son to revisit the place. Reflecting on the summers of his own childhood, he writes: "It seemed to me, as kept remembering all this, that those times and those summers had been infinitely precious and worth saving. There had been jollity and peace and goodness. The arriving . . . had been so big a business in itself . . . catching the first view of the lake after eleven months of not seeing this cherished body of water."

Even if I'm not really sure whether "jollity" is, technically speaking, a word, I wholeheartedly concur in the sentiment. Infinitely precious and worth saving. This site is a goddamn miracle!
