Thank you for the warm, positive outpouring of correspondence. We have received more than 60 e-mails in the last few days. We've heard from people all over the country and world (as far away as Australia) I have communicated with campers and counselors from the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and I think the 90's. It's nice to know the bonds that were formed at camp are still felt so strongly by so many.
We would like to create a Horseshoe Alumni Association run by a board of ex-campers. Anyone interested in being a part of the Association please contact me. I think it would be nice if we could have representation from different generations of campers. We will pick a time and place to hold our first meeting. Sometime in the fall. Some ideas for the Association: Reunion, Alumni Web site, traditions committee, planning the All-night T-hunt, discuss benifits of mosquito patrol, how to bring back A-field water, Message to Garcia strategy's to pass down, menu suggestions for a new Chicken ala King and how to recover a "sand steak" and methods of "stage fright recovery" from going to the bathroom in the HOH in front of (next to) 40 other guys.
We have begun creating an Alumni site on our web page and should shortly begin scanning old pictures and memorabilia. We'll will be needing all the help we can get as far as old pictures go. We'll be in touch.
Please continue spreading the word of the re-opening. We would love to visit prospects anywhere in the country.
Hail to the forest,
