Hi!
I'm am Steve Burval's sister, Burdel Horner. I have also been going up to Horshoelake for 53 years, although not consecutively. One of my very best friends is a granddaughter of Blanche Olsen's and we met on the pier while my family and I were staying in one of the log cabins when I was 13 years old. (Opps! How old am I?) All of us kids staying at Olson's used to take hikes all around the area and once got stranded on the other side of Bass Lake after following the fire trails through the woods. Thanks to Don Kronkite, Bea Kronkite's son, (now deceased) who led us on the expedition, (Bea owned the small cabin at the edge of Frog Creek, or so we called it, on the SW corner of Little Horshoe next to what was Mr. Maley's place) paid some man 50 cents to take us across the lake to the main road. Everyone thought we were lost! And so did we until we saw Bass Lake. Of course, Blance was worried too, but about "Skippy" their dog who accompanied us on our wanderings. Skippy was a currly, black lab and loved everyone.
This should probably have gone in the 'stories' section seeing the length of my answer.
