I was speaking to an associate of mine today and he was telling me how he was planning on spending his summer in Northern Wisconsin. I proceeded to tell him about the fond memories I had growing up and the many summers I spent at Camp Horseshoe.
Thinking of camp this evening, I searched the net for “Camp Horseshoe”. Imagine my surprise and delight when I stumbled on to this website.
Camp Horseshoe was a special place and an extraordinary time in my life. There was a special sense of values and respect for nature and one and other that was instilled in our lives at camp. As a young boy you started camp as a Pioneer then a Woodsman, Forester, Guide, Ranger, Stude and Super-Stude and if you were lucky you came back as a counselor. You started camp as a little boy and left years later a young man.
I live in Arizona now and think about camp often, especially this time of year as the summer is fast upon us. Every once in a while, I will walk out side after a rain and there will be a clean, pure smell in the air that remind me of camp.
It’s been far too many years since I last visited camp.
