 Greetings to all!

I am coming to this online reunion rather late in the game but am glad to now be part of the group.

Hats off to everyone who has contributed to the Web site. I have pictures from the 1988 reunion that I will try to post in the near future.

The two web sites - with all the pictures from the past - has been an excellent supplement to all the Camp stories i have been telling my 8-yr old twin sons fro years.

If only I could send them there!

Keep those emails coming!

Dear Wally,
Great to see your name appear. If you may have forgotten, I was your counselor in 1963 and I must say you had a terrific cabin. It was a great summer. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I am pleased to learn that you have a wonderful family and all are doing well. It is a small world. My neighbor across the street is related to you so I am told -Tripp Hainsfurther.
I return to camp each year for the past 40 years for a week in the summer.Although the cabins are not there, the sights , sounds and smells are. I hope to see you at the reunion if it happens otherwise our paths will cross in Minong someday I am sure.

Wally,

Good to see your name on the list!! This really brings back some old memories. Are you still living in Boston? I have been here in Chicago for over 20 years. I even recognize some of the stories here!!

Deacon!

I saw your name on the message board, and I am very happy to hear from you.

Much has happened since my application to UT Law School. I worked in the family business for 6 years, then went to Vanderbilt to get my MBA. After graduation, I returned to the Boston area, where I have been ever since.

I have worked primarily in financial services marketing, most recently for Fidelity Investments for 7+ years. Along with 3000 of my fellow associates, I was laid off last year. In true corporate style, I was called back to work for Fidelity but as a consultant. It actually has been working out quite well - giving me more flexibility to attend to my family, specifically my 8 -yr old twin boys.

It is a shame that they never will be able to go to Camp Horseshoe but hopefully my stories keep the legacy going.

The Kuhns are spread out these days. Jack is in Ft.Lauderdale, Jeff is still in Nashville - as are Gus and Irwin. My sister, Carol, also lives in the Boston area (right in Boston). Bill is a RABBI in Philadelphia!

Laz and I have not connected, sadly, for over a year. I think he is still mad that the Red Sox beat the Indians in the baseball playoffs several years ago. Either that or he is under water with college tuition bills ( one at Princeton and the other at Duke). It's nothing comapred to what I will have to pay 10 years from now!

So, are you still in the Seattle area? I recall that you could not make it to the '88 reunion in Minong due to your involvement with the WPSS case.

Hope Barb, your kids and you are well. Would be great to see you sometime.

Rick,

Great to hear from you, Rick.

Yes, I remember very well my Forrester A Cabin with you. What a great summer, it was!

Tripp has kept me informed of your family and you. It indeed is a small world!

I am envious of your returns to the Minong area every summer.

Although I now qualify as a real New Englander, I often think of Wisconsin. I hope some day to return there with my family. However, I still get my Canadians in every year! My wife, Beth, is from Buffalo, and we vacation at her family's summer house on Lake Erie in Ontario.

Please let me know if you ever head out this way. Likewise for me. We missed Adam Hainsfurther's Bar Mitzvah last year as we were in Aruba for my 50th birthday. Hope that doesn't make you feel too old!

Dan!

I am glad you responded. How are you?

I guess we lost touch after Matthew. I still am in the Boston area (Newton).

We will have to catch up soon. I responded to Bob Louer in NC but have not heard back from him.

When can we connect?

Wally

Wally,

Thanks for responding to me. I finally got married 7 years ago. Still in my families business. I used to hear some things about you through Dave Gibbs. I'd love to catch up sometime. My work phone is 708 579-9595. I saw Bob Louer two years ago at a high school reunion. After I sent him this web site we exchanged emails. We hope to talk soon. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Wally and Dan....Geez, finally some guys from my era. Wally, I email w/ Gus every now and then and heard you were in Boston. It appears my oldest son (I have 3 boys) Adam will be attending school in your neck of the woods. We'll be heading to Cambridge/Medford next week to make some decisions. Unfortunately we have only a few hours then have to move on to NYC. Would love to catch up with you on one of the future trips.

Dan, you may have gone to high school with my wife Lisa Stone. She's probably one or two years younger than you. Are you stilll on the North Shore?

Great to hear from you both. I hope all is well with you and your families.

John

John,

Thanks for the note. Great to hear from you. Gus has told me that he has run in to you while skiing in Colorado with Rich greene, Fred Hess and others.

I can appreciate your tight schedeule when you are in Boston, but, if you have a few minutes during the day, I can be reached at (617) 563-0857 at Fidelity Investments.

Your cousin, Nicholas, is in the news fairly often here, with his ambitions of developing the Seaport area.

Lisa Stone - any relation to Julie Stone Hainsfurther of Highland Park? She is married to my 1st cousin, Bruce Hainsfurther. Her parents are Donna and Howard Stone.

Love to see you. A long time since the '88 reunion.

Still in touch with Russ Levine or Rubenstein?

Take care,

Wally

No info until you apologize for jamming a pretzel stick into my palette (sp?) on the train to camp!.

I see Russell often. He lives and works in the City and has a daughter but is diveorced from his wife. I haven't seen Rubenstein in a while but happened to meet his sister one night. I'll tell you the story one day.

Lisa is not related to the Stones you refer to. She did go to Camp Nicolet so knows the sisters of the Memphis, Nashville, etc. kids that went to Horseshoe.

We've been trying to develop Fan Pier for years and suspect it will go on for years.
All else is good. As soon as we firm up our Boston schedule I'll see where we might have a few minutes to cacth up.

All best,

Pigpen

John,

Great to hear from you. I actually don't know Lisa. My brother Scott may since he is three years younger than me.

I am still living in Evanston working in Chicago. At various times I think I may have seen Fred Hess around. Is he living somewhere around here?

If you are ever back here it would be great to catch up with you. My office phone is 708 579-9595.

From Wally's email it sounds like you are in Colorado skiing sometime. My wife and I bought a condo there 4 years ago. What areas do you ski?

Hope all is well.

Dan

Great to hear from you! I just write Frankie and email. Just goes to show the power of the internet.

We have a place in Vail and have been skiing there for many years. Every few I see Fred, Skinner, Gus Kuhn, Rich Greene, etc. Yes, Fred Lives in Evanston but I can't remember the street name.

I get back to Chicago a fair amount. Between my family, Lisa's family, old friends and business time is at a premium but I will call one of these days.

Hope all is well,

john

Hey, Wally--Thanks for all the info. on the extended Kuhn family. Yes, we're still in Seattle, close to completing our 25th year in the Pacific Northwest. I'm still practicing law--energy, utilities, litigation, etc. Barby is a "professional volunteer" for various organizations. Our girls are 29 and 27--both live in San Francisco working in the nonprofit sector [which is tough in SF, of course]; Amy (29) got married last summer; Lori is living with a significant other. I still fish occasionally, and think about some of those early a.m. trout excursions to 5 Mile Creek, Shell Creek, Bergen Creek, the St. Croix Trail Bridge, and Thompson's Bridge on the Totogatic. Good times and memories. I need to find a piece T. Mann wrote about Doc H. and camp's influence and send it to you. It made its way to your cousin, Billy late last year, because he got in touch with me. I'd heard he was a Philly rabbi. I'll tell Barby you said hello. Take care. Deacon

Dan,

Great to hear from you.

I am sorry I did not get back to you sooner. April was a busy month, and we were in Charelston, SC on spring vacation. My brother, Jack, and his wife joined us; and we saw a lot of Kenny Fox and his wife, who live in Charleston.

I am still in Boston but almost never see David Gibbs. Glad that you do when he returns to Chicago. His boys must be jr high age by now.

If you have read any of my earlier postings, you have a good idea of what I have been up to.

I e-mailed Bob Louer in NC a while back but never heard from him. Have you?
What about Laz?

I would love to catch up more with you sometime - maybe even the old fashion way - telephone.

Take care and hope we will keep up the contact.

Wally

Dan,

I forgot to mention that, a few years ago, I worked for Richard Sincere, formerly of Highland Park, at Fidelity. You may have known him growing up,

Wally,
This web site has been great to hear about people that I haven't talked to in many years. I sure hope we keep up the contact. Phone would be great. I have your office as 617 563-0857. Mine is 708 579-9595 x119 I'll call soon. I haven't been out east as much as I would like. Just before I met my wife, I bought some land in Vermont. Since we got married we have spent more time in Colorado. In fact we bought a place in Breckenridge. The summers there remind me a lot of time in wisconsin. Fishing, hiking and quiet!!!

I think often of our camp times. My wife gets tired of "camp stories". Especially cabin 14. I still remember the Canadian trip where I was the canoe partner of Bob Ruby. Between the weight both of us carried our canoe was only 2" off the water!! I think we had the only wet clothes of the trip.

I emailed Bob louer and got one response from him. The last I saw him was at my high school's 30th reunion. I saw Laz a couple of years ago here in chicago. I would love to have some sort of reunion sometime. Anyway take care. Keep in touch

Dan
