Dear Jordan and Fran,
My name is Jon Schwartz. I was part of the last generation of boys lucky enough to attend Horseshoe (1982-90). I was a counselor during the final days of a camp that closed all to early for many of us. I can’t help feeling cheated out of a couple more summers as a counselor. Not being able to visit camp as a floater for extended weekends. Missing out on Post Camp. But most of all, not knowing where I would send my kids. We all feel this way! Just read any one of the 790 postings and it’s easy to understand.

Camp was a special place that we all loved. I feel lucky to have been part of it. I learned so much there. My best friends today are the guys I met as a camper and counselor.

Today I have two wonderful kids. A four year old who will no doubt attend Birchtrail. Like it or NOT! And then there’s my son Zachary. I have often wondered where I would send him. North-Star or Nabegmon (spelling?). Reading your posting this afternoon brought a chill to my spine and a tear to my eye. We have a few years to go before he’s ready for camp, but now I know where he will attend. Thank you! And we’ll see you in six-seven years. Hopefully sooner.

I sit hear at my computer envious of your news. What a dream come true! I wish you and your family all the luck in the world with your new journey.

Hail to the forest!
