Don, Roy, Alan, and everyone,
You must understand the unique situation that Jordan Shiner has put both of our camps in. I understand that you are not trying to do anything to damage Kawaga. I understand how exciting the reopening of Horseshoe must be for you. If I was in your shoes, I wouldn't be able to contain my excitement. However, you are not the man who is, with a vengence, trying to lure campers and counselors to Horseshoe from Kawaga. This is an unfortunate sitation that has arisen that has made campers decide what camp to go to. It is making campers leave their friends who they have spent countless summers with. It is splitting up brothers. It is splitting up fathers and sons, uncles and nephews and cousins. I have talked to some of these campers who feel as if they are being recruited for a college football team because of the tenacity of persuasion from camp directors and other external influences. This circumstance has made it seem acceptable for campers to enter an alumni site becuase they feel so shocked, so scared about losing what they used to have, their friends, mentors, and family, and do not know how to act. This situation has made Horseshoe alumnists talk to campers (probably around the age of 12 or 13) in not the most kind matter. To stop this, one must understand that camp is for lighthearted pleasure and the reopening of Horseshoe is not fulfilling this value but replacing it, (sorry for sounding slightly biased) with evil capitilistic, vengeful ideals. Do not brush this post off. It is important that you understand what is happening. I spent time writing it, my first post on this site, becuase many people are beginning to argue over a situation that they know little about. What I hope you gain from this, is not to accept my point of view, because again, if I was in your position, with the amount of knowledge that you have, I wouldn't. You should at least understand where Kawaga frustration is coming from, and to understand that most of these posts have probably come from children and are not worth your breath since nothing will arise from your arguements. Don, you must understand, that as much as you and I'd like to think that Kawaga and Horseshoe are not in competition with one another, they are. They primarily recruit from the same city, are situated 30 minutes from each other, will compete against the same camps, will have socials with the same girls. This situation has already ruined friendsips, some realtionships that were over a decade old. So please, show some compassion and understand what the opening of Horseshoe is going to do.
Also, I do not represent the Kawaga staff, campers or administation in any way.
Thank you for reading, and (hopefully) understanding.
