Jon-
Thats right! I forgot you are a Stevenson HS Alum! Actually, I'm 1/2 New Trier and 1/2 Stevenson. Ahh, to return to the simpler days of high school and camp!!! That would be great in many ways. How I'd love to be out on the water of Little Horseshoe right now instead of being stuck behind a desk at work. I've migrated westward to San Francisco, and live in a town called Burlingame, but I return to the Midwest and especially to the Northwoods of Wisconsin in many of my dreams.
I think I read somewhere in a previous thread that you were a counselor during the last summer of Horseshoe in 1990. Is this correct? If so, I'd like to know how the news that Camp Horseshoe was being closed was conveyed to campers and counselors. Was there a campwide meeting during its last days that 1990 was the final summer? What was the tone of the owners and how did people react to this shockingly sad news? I remember I was asked to be a counselor during the final summer but I'm glad I wasn't, especially if there was such a meeting. I would've been too sad and angry that Camp and its history was being destroyed for profit, and might've lost it right then and there. The sadness we felt during the song "I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane" would've been nothing compared to that news.
Anyways, just wondering...
Best Regards.....Josh
