A few weeks back my friends Dan Gould and Adam Marton told me of this site. Why didn’t we do this years ago. Thank you to who ever actually took the time to create this for us. Reading all the postings brought me back to many of my fondest memories. I was a camper and counselor for several wonderful summers up in the north woods (1982-1990). My closest friends to this day are the boys I met at Horseshoe.
Just about every year, a few of us make the pilgrimage back to Minong. It always brings me back to those wonderful summers at camp. It’s a bit different these days, but a few things are unchanged. Floating down the Brule or the Nam looks exactly as we all remember it. A-Lake is still unchanged. It has a campsite and path almost back to camp. The cabins are long gone and the tree lined private lake has been replaced with Huge homes. The a-field has been replaced by a golf course and their are plans for condos on the new football field. (Built in 1999) But if you look real hard you can still find an old sign by the counselos parking lot, a 22 shell by the shooting range or a # ten-tin along cook out beach. Proof we were once there.
There are so many of you out there that I grew up with at camp that I lost track with over the years. What a perfect way to re-kindle that friendship. I hope to hear from you.
