Yellow River was not very good as I remember; too many weeds.
One of the most memorbable:
My forester year, my counselor Steve Ujka (cabin name: Ujka's Astrodorks) took us (plus Eric Stephens from the all-time counselor roster) to his family's nearby cabin. I think it was on Nancy Lake? We went water skiing, watched t.v., had cokes (even though we had done no good deeds and it wasn't anyone's birthday) and best of all used the family's indoor (air conditioned) bathroom.
There are many other trips (Porkies, Canadian) to remember vividly. Some of you may have been with me on a trip (Chequamegon I guess, excuse the spelling) where we were trying a "new route" of different trails, etc. We wound up hiking one day on a road when we realized how much shorter it was than the trail. I remember a little bit of a battle with the counselor on the trip.
As a very young camper, I remember day trips to A-Lake, which seemed about 15 miles away.
